The Golden Bears (11-1 overall) are ranked sixth in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top 25 poll. Last week, KU defeated Concord University, 17-14, and earned its first-ever playoff win in the 96-year history of the program. With the win, KU set a school record for wins in a season. Last year's ten wins was the previous record.
New Haven (10-1) is ranked fifth in the AFCA Top 25 poll. The Chargers, who earned a bye as the No. 2 seed, defeated Saint Anselm College two weeks ago in the regular season finale, 59-17. New Haven earned the program's fifth berth to the NCAA Division II Football Division II playoffs and the first since 1997. This is the first playoff game to take place at the newly renovated DellaCamera Stadium.
This will be the third meeting between KU and New Haven. Kutztown is 0-2 against New Haven with both of its losses coming in back-to-back seasons. The Golden Bears lost 31-6 at University Field in 1994 and 28-19 on the road in 1995.
The winner of this game will advance to the Super Region 1 Final and face the winner of the Winston-Salem/California (Pa.) game on Dec. 3. Winston-Salem is the top-seed in Super Region 1 and had a bye last week. Cal who is seeded fifth, defeated No. 4 Elizabeth City State University 44-0 on Saturday.
Kutztown's daunting defense was incredible in Saturday's victory. Each week the defense continues to keep the Golden Bears in the game with its ability to breakup plays, limit runs, and block punts. The Golden Bear defense has not allowed over 14 points in four straight games as well as five of its last six.
With two interceptions against Concord, defensive back
