WALLINGFORD, CT. (November 13, 2011)—The Kutztown University bowling team went 0-4 during Sunday's round of competition at the Northeast Conference Meet, hosted by Sacred Heart University. (INDIVIDUAL AND OVERALL RESULTS)

The Golden Bears (17-12 overall) are 3-6 in the NEC following Sunday's games. Kutztown played closed matches on the final day of the NEC Meet but were not able to pull through with any victories.

KU fell to Saint Francis (NY) 935-931 in the first game. Kutztown was led by senior Kayla Jones (Johnstown, PA/Westmont Hilltop ) with a 214 in the anchor position.

Against St. Francis (Pa.) the Golden Bears found themselves in another close match where they fell 831-817. Brooke Bower (Camp Hill, PA/Cedar Cliff) led with a team-high 211.

In the third match, Kutztown dropped a 884-854 decision to Adelphi. Sacred Heart defeated the Golden Bears 953-852. Jones led Kutztown with a 192 in the final games on Sunday.

In nine games over the weekend, Jones averaged a 202. She finished third overall out of 84 bowlers.  In three games, Khrystyna Liske (Delta, PA/Kennard Dale) finished with a 201 average to finish fourth overall. Bower was 12th with a 193 average through nine games.

“We simply did not execute well all day,” Kutztown University head coach Joseph Ambrose said. “We paid for it by losing four matches. We need to regroup quickly this weekend at the UMES Hawk Classic before our winter break.”

The Golden Bears will hit the road again on Friday, Nov. 18 when it travels to Millsboro, Delaware for the UMES Hawk Classic hosted by the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore.
