READING, Pa. (October 23, 2011)—The Kutztown University women's bowling team finished in third place at the KU Fall Baker Invite/Team Matches earlier Sunday afternoon at Berks Lanes in Reading.

The Golden Bears (8-2 overall) finished with a total pin fall of 4396. Adelphi won the tournament going 4-1 on the day and tallying a pin fall of 4533. Hampton University finished second with 4400 total pins. Rounding out the top five was Saint Peter's College in fourth (4386), and Saint Francis-PA (4248) finished fifth.
Sunday's format included five team matches.
Kutztown defeated Howard University 862-789, Adelphi University 921-781, and Cheyney University 871-653. KU fell to St. Peter's College in a nail biter 918-916 and St. Francis-PA 836-826.
The MVP of Sunday's team matches was Hampton's Rebecca Glazier. Glazier finished with a pin fall off 1032. The all-tournament team included Danielle Merino of Adelphi (983), KU's
Jara Cohen (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) (964), Melissa Sandoval (961), and Vicki Peters (945) and Elizabeth Herbert (937) both from Adelphi.
Cohen who was used a reserve player last season will be seeing more time in KU's rotation. Her efforts this weekend helped the Golden Bears to a successful finish.
The Golden Bears return back to action on Friday, Nov.5 when it heads to Elmwood Park, NJ for the FDU Jamboree hosted by Fairleigh Dickingson University. FDU was the runner-up in the NCAA Bowling Championship last season.
