CLARION, Pa. (October 22, 2011)— Maria Borland (Hagerstown, MD/Hagerstown) of the Kutztown University women's soccer team has done it again. The five foot, three inch junior from Hagerstown, Md. recorded her second career hat trick in KU's 3-1 win over Clarion University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) game, Saturday afternoon at Memorial Field.

The Golden Bears (12-4 overall, 10-3 PSAC) are ranked 16th in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America Top 25 poll. Additionally, Kutztown is ranked second in the Atlantic Regional rankings.
The Golden Eagles fell to 4-11-2 overall and 2-10-2 in the PSAC.
Borland found
Carolynne Kahl (Bethel, PA/Tuplehocken) who was credited with the assist in the 15th minute to give Kutztown the early 1-0 advantage before entering halftime. The duo reconnected again in the final minutes of the game, allowing Borland to find Kahl's pass for a goal, giving the Golden Bears the 2-0 lead, with 10 minutes remaining.
Just when Clarion thought the Borland attack was over, Borland scored her third goal of the game which was unassisted, just three minutes after she scored her second goal.
However the Golden Eagles finally answered in the 88th minute, when CU's Maria Baldelli scored to slice the lead to 3-1.
Borland has had an astonishing season that keeps fans waiting to see what she'll do next. She leads the team with a staggering 13 goals and recorded her first career hat trick in KU's season opener back on Sept. 3.
Her numbers are very impressive, as she recorded her sixth multi-goal game against Clarion. Borland tallies a solid .808 shot-on-goal (SOG) percent and has four game-winning goals this season.
Saturday's win was also a season-high for Kahl in assists (two).
The Golden Bears outshot the Golden Eagles 21-4, with 16 of their shots being SOGs. Clarion goalie Laura Saussol was busy in the net as she recorded 14 saves, almost tying her season-high of 15. KU goalie
Casey Behrendt (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) finished with two saves on the day.
Kutztown returns back to action when it travels to Brookville, NY to take on Long Island C.W. Post on Tuesday, Oct.25 for a non-conference game starting at 3:30 p.m. The Golden Bears have only loss one away game this season.
