Kutztown (10-9 overall, 3-8 PSAC) was paced by freshman Kimberlee Gomber (Washington, PA/Washington) (Washington/Washington), who finished with 16 assists and six digs. Freshman Dana Wright (Warminster, PA/Saint Basil Academy) (Warminster/Saint Basil Academy) contributed 18 assists and 11 digs. Offensively, sophomore Katie Miller (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown) (Elizabethtown/Elizabethtown) earned eight kills, followed by junior Kelsey Nester (Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua) (Catasauqua/Catasauqua) with seven kills.
Fueled by fired-up fans who danced to the music during timeouts, the Golden Bears took off in the first game, setting the tone. KU tallied 16 kills for the win. Miller led the team with 4 kills and junior Lindsay Confer (Wingate, PA/Bald Eagle) (Wingate/Bald Eagle Area) followed with three. The team earned only one error, for the 25-18 win.
The Marauders took an early lead in the second game, but the Golden Bears came back before their opponents reached double digits in points. Junior Jamie Celia (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) (Douglassville/Daniel Boone) defended the KU court, coming up with a match high 14 digs.
Kutztown played a solid match in game three, with sophomores Cali Snell (York, PA/York Suburban) (York/York Suburban), Katie Lutz (Greencastle, PA/Greencastle Antrim) (Greencastle/Greencastle Antrim) and Nester, Confer, and Miller contributing to kills.
The Golden Bears return to action at home on Saturday, Oct. 17 in front of a homecoming crowd at 3 p.m.
