Kutztown falls to East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, PA (September 25, 2009) – The Kutztown University volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to East Stroudsburg in its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division opener Friday evening.

The Golden Bears (6-5 overall, 0-4 PSAC) battled hard before falling, 25-16, 28-26, 25-19. Junior Jamie Celia (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) (Douglassville/Daniel Boone) paced Kutztown with 21 digs. It was the second time this season, Celia has finished with 20 or more digs. Overall, Kutztown had four players finish with at least six kills.

Sophomore Erin Kissling (York, PA/Central York) (York/Central York) led the Golden Bears with seven kills. Meanwhile, senior Katie Miller (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown) (Elizabethtown/Elizabethtown), junior Lindsay Confer (Wingate, PA/Bald Eagle) (Wingate/Bald Eagle), sophomore Cali Snell (York, PA/York Suburban) (York/York Suburban) had six kills each for Kutztown. Snell contributed a pair of blocks.

Freshman Dana Wright (Warminster, PA/Saint Basil Academy) (Warminster/St. Basil Academy) had 22 assists and 14 digs. This was the fifth time this season, Wright had 20 or more assists in a game.

Kutztown returns to action Saturday night when it visits reigning PSAC Eastern Division champion Lock Haven in a match beginning at 7 p.m
