Kutztown's unbeaten streak ended by West Chester

WEST CHESTER, PA. (October 20, 2009) – The Kutztown University women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to West Chester University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match Tuesday afternoon.

Kutztown, ranked 14th in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll, had its eight-match unbeaten streak ended. Kutztown's overall record slipped to 11-3-2 overall and 6-2-1 in the PSAC East. Seventh-ranked West Chester (13-1-1, 10-1-0) clinched the PSAC East Division regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament, which begins Tuesday Nov. 4.

Junior Jen Pyne (Wall Township, N.J./Wall) (Wall Township, NJ/Wall) recorded two of the five shots for the Golden Bears. Freshman keeper Alyssa Hackelberg (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) (Randolph, NJ/Randolph), the reigning PSAC East Player of the Week, finished with four saves.

West Chester, which outshot 12-5 Kutztown, scored its goals during an eight-minute stretch of the first half. Sarah Oswald scored on a direct kick in the 32nd minute. Jen Hutchinson headed a goal home off of a corner kick in the 40th minute.

Kutztown returns to action with a home match against East Stroudsburg University beginning at 1 p.m.
