  • Title
    Defensive Coordinator/Safeties/Recruiting Coordinator

Recruiting Area: Chester, Lancaster, Lebanon, & Montgomery Counties

Ross Pennypacker completed his fourth season as the defensive coordinator and third as a safeties coach at Kutztown University in 2016.

Kutztown posted 15 All-PSAC defenders under Pennypacker's tenure. As the defensive coordinator, Pennypacker's defenses posted three shutouts and remained in the top half of the PSAC in rushing defense and turnover margin. KU led the PSAC in red zone defense in 2014 (19th in the nation) and ranked in the top three in the PSAC in total defense and turnover margin.

While at Kutztown, the Golden Bears were 15-1 when Pennypacker's defenses hold opponents to less than 24 points and 10-1 when limiting teams to less than 100 rushing yards.

Pennypacker came to KU after a three-year stint as an assistant coach at Division I FCS Bucknell. He coached the linebackers in 2011 and 2012 after guiding the safeties in his first season on the staff. Pennypacker coached three All-Patriot League linebackers with the Bison.

Pennypacker was no stranger to the PSAC. The 2005 Millersville graduate got his coaching start with the Marauders after concluding his playing career. A linebacker as a player, he went on to serve as a student assistant, aiding with both the outside linebackers and safeties.

Prior to Bucknell, Pennypacker served as the cornerbacks coach at Cornell University in 2008 and 2009.

He spent the two previous seasons as a graduate assistant and assistant coach at Villanova. His duties with the Wildcats included serving as the team's video coordinator and assisting with the defensive backs. He helped Villanova to a 6-5 mark in 2006 and a 7-4 record in 2007 in the powerful Colonial Athletic Association.

Before arriving at Villanova, Pennypacker was an intern assistant coach at Allegheny College, where he coached the outside linebackers.

He graduated from Millersville in 2005 with a degree in social sciences.
