KUTZTOWN, PA (July 30, 2010) -- Stephen Dennis of the basketball team was named the Male Athlete of the Year and Steph Jeppesen (Bethlehem/Liberty) of the swimming team, was tabbed the Female Athlete of the Year.
The pair also earned the Kutztown Senior Male and Female Athletes of the Year during the awards banquet on April 26. Dennis is the third men's basketball player, and first since Butch Hills in 1989, to be named Kutztown Male Athlete of the Year. He was previously named the Daktronics Atlantic Region Player of the Year on March 11. Dennis broke Kutztown's career scoring record and his 2,406 points ranks third in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) history. He scored a career high 42 points in an 87-84 victory over East Stroudsburg.
Jeppesen helped the Kutztown University swimming team enjoy its best season in school history. The Golden Bears finished fourth as a team at the PSAC championships and 16th at nationals.
