Tony Didyoung (’76) was a three-time member of the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) soccer first team. In his three years at KU, he played in all 36 games and won three varsity letters. Didyoung played his freshman year at West Chester where he was named to the All-MAC Division I second team. He was named to the PA/NJ/DEL All-American team after his junior year and earned NSCAA All-America honors as a senior. Didyoung showed impeccable leadership qualities, as he was chosen team captain and was named team MVP his final two seasons. He guided the Golden Bears to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) finals twice. He ranks sixth on KU’s all-time scorers list with 16 goals and nine assists. Didyoung earned a bachelor’s degree from KU in elementary education/social studies. He was the Golden Bears’ men’s soccer assistant coach from 1985-87. He is presently coaching Fleetwood High School boys’ soccer and tennis, and is teaching seventh grade social studies in Fleetwood, PA. He was the first men’s soccer player to be inducted into the KU Athletics Hall of Fame.
