A Mount Carmel native and 1954 journalism graduate of Penn State, he is a member of the Reading Eagle/Times staff, covering the Kutztown football program for 14 years until 1980. He received the College Football Centennial Award in 1969 for his Kutztown coverage and was named to the original committee that formed the Hall of Fame in 1977, serving as executive secretary since. He also worked for the Harrisburg Patriot-News, Milton Evening Standard, Shippensburg News Chronicle, Shamokin citizen, and Wildwood (N.J.) Leader. He received the Old Golds Award in 1953-54 at Penn State, the Milton Boosters Club Award in 1962, and the Mount Carmel rotary Club Award in 1969 for his sports coverage. He originated the format for the All-East Central High School Football Team in the Anthracite area in 1960, continuing as coordinator for selections until 1980. He and his wife, Dolores, live in Greenfields and have four children and five grandchildren.
