In high school, Sullivan of 420 Schoolhouse Lane, Shippensburg, was named All-Lower Susquehanna Conference tackle and participated in basketball, baseball, and track. In college, at 6’2”, 215, Sullivan started both ways as defensive end or tackle and as center. He was an All-Conference center in 1961 and 1962, and was All-State honorable mention as a center in 1962. He lettered two years in track at Kutztown. Both he and his wife, the former Susan Renshaw, are teachers. She graduated in 1965, also form Kutztown. They began teaching overseas in Bangkok, Thailand from 1970 through 1976, then in SarCheshmeh International School, Rafsanjan, Iran, 1976 through 1978. He also serves as an assistant high school football coach at Shippensburg. He and his wife have two children, John, 14, and Michael, 13.
