Wentling, who lives in West Reading, was the Bears captain in 1932, when he played every minute of an eight-game season. He graduated in 1933 with certification in elementary and secondary education. He was an elementary school teacher for 36 years, retiring from the Gov. Mifflin district in 1974. Wentling also was a football official for 39 years.
