Braine was a two-time women's track and field selection to the PSAC Top 10, the PSAC's top award that recognizes student-athletes who excel in both the classroom and in athletic competition, and earned an Academic All-America award in her senior year in 2000.
A standout and pioneer in the pole vault, she won the 2000 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) pole vault, helping the Golden Bears to a second-place finish. She went on to finish seventh in the nation in the vault, earning All-America status. Braine broke her own school-record four times in the pole vault, which stood for 14 years before it was broken in February 2014. She currently ranks third in the outdoor pole vault.
During the outdoor season, Braine won the PSAC pole vault title, helping KU to the team championship. She was also a national qualifier for the outdoor NCAA Championships.
Braine was a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete, held a 3.80 GPA in speech language pathology and was named to the 2000 GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-District team. Braine was named the Kutztown Female Athlete of the Year in 2000.
She finished second at the 1998 PSAC Championships in the pole vault, sixth in the 100m hurdles and 4x100 relay. Braine was also a recipient of the 1997-98 KU Presidential Award, given to the top academic male and female student-athletes. She was named to the Dean's List six times.
Braine is currently a physician at the Hospice & Community Care in Lancaster. She and her husband, William, have two children – a son and a daughter.
