John Cresswell played basketball and baseball for the Golden Bears before graduating in 1969 with a degree in elementary education. He is the fourth-leading basketball scorer in school history with 1,414 points. His feats included a career-high 45 points in one game and 535 points in one season. He earned All-PSAC honors in baseball three times and led the team in RBIs three times. He started at shortstop all four years, including his freshman year, when the team won KU’s only PSAC baseball championship under Walt Risley. Upon graduation, he signed with the Detroit Tigers of the American League. He is currently a teacher and head basketball coach for the Norristown Area School District.
