An All-Pennsylvania football selection for three seasons, Pollard was also a star in track and field, setting records in both the shot put and discus. In his senior year, he played center, guard and tackle. For his performance, he was named Most Valuable Player. In 1971, Pollard became a player-coach for two semipro football teams. From 1973 to 1976, he had been offensive line coach at Kutztown High School. In 1977, he returned to the Golden Bears campus as offensive line coach. During these years, 29 lifters achieved All-American status. In 1979, Pollard moved to Lafayette College for two seasons as offensive line coach. Since 1981, he has been the offensive line coach at Moravian College. He also has been the head track and field coach since the program’s inception four years ago.
