Don Shaver, 12 the Outlook, Glen Clove, N.Y., holds the school single season and career rushing scoring records. A four-year letterman, he was team captain in 1981, his senior year. Among his honors, he was named to first New York Times All-East Team in 1979, twice named an All Eastern college Athletic Conference Division Player of the Week, and a weekly honor roll member three times. Shaver was a member of the Pennsylvania Conference All-Star team in 1978 and 1979, named to the Strength Coaches All-American Football team in 1980, and reached the Maxwell Award for Player of the week in 1979. In addition to running track for two years, he was a member of the Golden Bears’ powerlifting team four years, being named in 1980 to the All-American Powerlifting team. Shaver was drafted in the seventh round by Minnesota Vikings in 1981, signed by Buffalo Bills in 1982, then by Arizona Wranglers and the Miami Dolphins in 1983. Currently he is employed with Proctor and Gamble as a paper products salesman in the New York area.
