Rhodes was a four-time PSAC outdoor champion, a four-time Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) indoor champion and a three-time All-American for the KU women's track & field team. At the conference level, she won back-to-back titles in the shot put and discus in 1995 and 1996.
A three-year competitor at KU, she was a six-time All-PSAC thrower that included top-three finishes as a freshman. She was rewarded as the 1994 KU Female Rookie of the Year, and followed with the 1995 and 1996 KU Female Athlete of the Year awards.
As a sophomore in 1995, Rhodes placed third at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships in the shot put and was named an NCAA Division II All-American. She won the ECAC title in the shot put and the 20-pound weight throw and was named the Most Valuable Field Athlete of the ECAC Championships. She capped the year by winning the discus and the shot put at the PSAC Championships and earning All-America honors in the discus.
A year later in 1996, she earned her third career All-America honor, second indoor, with a second-place finish in the 20-pound weight at the NCAA indoor championships. She was the ECAC champion in the weight and the shot put. She successfully defended her shot and discus titles at the PSAC Championships in May, where she helped the Golden Bears to a best-ever second place finish.
Rhodes has served as a special handling customer service representative for 16 years at Hibu – the publisher of Yellowbook.
