Dale Derr (1979) was a standout wrestler from 1976-79 who won 85 percent of his matches and earned NCAA Division III All-American honors (190 lbs.) as a senior. Derr was second in the 1979 Division III Eastern Regionals qualifying for nationals, fifth in the 1978 PSAC state tournament and qualified as a freshman for the 1976 NCAA Division III nationals. Derr, who is currently an officer in the United States Air Force, went on to earn additional mat accolades while serving overseas. Derr was a three-time U.S.A.F. Mediterranean champion (1981, 1982 and 1983). He was the 1981 U.S.A.F. European champion and 1982 European runner-up. Derr took his talents coaching wise to produce high schools champions in Spain (two national champions), England (seven national champions) and New Mexico (two state champions).
