Barbara Francis-Kruse started all four years for the KU field hockey and women’s lacrosse teams. At left link, she helped the field hockey team to a winning record each year. She was named to the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Field Hockey Association First Team three times on defense and was the Lady Bears’ co-captain her senior year. She was the first KU athlete to participate in the United States Women’s Lacrosse Association All-Star Tournament, which she played in three times. She was the Lady Bears’ team captain three times and led the team in offense all four years. Francis-Kruse graduated from KU in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and earned her master’s degree in 1989. She is currently a school teacher and director of intramurals for the Downingtown Area School District.
