Amy Rae Wahl (2000) was a record-setting guard on the women’s basketball team from 1995-99.  During her career, Wahl set or tied seven school records, all of which still stand today.  She established Golden Bear career standards for points (1,434), assists (481) and steals (309).  She set the single-season record for steals with 93 in 1996-97, and set single-game records for points (39), field goals (13) and steals (nine), all in the same game vs. Quinnipiac in 1996.  During her four years, the team won 74 games, second-most in a four-year span in school history.  In 1995-96, Wahl helped the team to a then-school record 20 wins, a share of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division title and a berth in the NCAA Regionals for the first time in school history.  The following year, Wahl averaged 16.2 points, the fifth highest single-season average at KU.  Kutztown won 18 games and advanced to the PSAC semifinals.  In 1997-98, KU made it to the PSAC semifinals for the second-straight year, again winning 18 games.  As a senior in 1998-99, Wahl led the Golden Bears to an 18-10 record and a fourth-straight PSAC Playoff berth.  Wahl was named to the All-PSAC East first team in each of her sophomore, junior and senior seasons.  She earned All-Region honors in 1996-97.  She was also named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Star team and was the Lehigh Valley College Basketball Media Organization Player of the Year in 1997-98 and 1998-99.  In 1999, Wahl was named the PSAC East, KU Female Athlete, and KU Senior Athlete of the Year.  She also played one season of softball for the Golden Bears, starting in center field in 1996.  A native of New London, PA, Wahl graduated from Avon Grove High School in 1995.  Wahl completed her bachelor’s degree in elementary education/early childhood learning in 2000. She received her master’s in education at Wilkes University while teaching sixth grade in the Allentown School District.  In 2000, Wahl was named one of KU’s top female athletes of the 1990s and one of Kutztown’s Top 30 Athletes of the 20th Century.  She is engaged to Frank Nickischer.
