RESULTS

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Fourth place finishes by Elizabeth Metz (Rosemont, Pa./Radnor), Caitlin Davies (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) and Jess Mape (Camp Hill, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) led Kutztown University to an 11th place finish at the Bob Mowerson Sprint Meet.

Metz got the Golden Bears started on the right foot with a strong showing in the day's first event, the 400 freestyle. She finished fourth with a time of 4:56.38.

Davies followed with a fourth place finish in the second event of the day. She turned in a 1:04.80 in the 100 freestyle.

Mape was one of two scorers for KU in the 50 breaststroke with a 37.07, good for fourth place. Natalie Carr (Exeter, Pa./Wyoming Area) took eighth in the event with a time of 38.16.

Kutztown had three swimmers score in the 50 backstroke. Samantha Scialpi (West Pittston, Pa./Pittston) swam a 37.47 to finish eighth.  Ellen Groeneveld (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) touched the wall in 37.87 for ninth and Emily Scordato (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) was 10th in 38.63.

In the 50 butterfly, Jessica Bleiler (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) claimed ninth in 32.40.

The Golden Bears are back in action on January 19, when Lock Haven visits Keystone Natatorium for a 1 p.m. PSAC dual meet.
