KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University men's track and field team finished in fourth place and broke KU records at the Ursinus Collegiate Invitational held on Friday.

Other schools that participated in the meet include East Stroudsburg, West Chester, Rowan, Elizabethtown, Lincoln (Pa.), Rutgers-Camden, Albright, Widener, Ursinus, Delaware Valley, Alvernia, Muhlenberg, Holy Family, Neumann, Montclair State, and Immaculata.
Freshman
Richard Gatewood (Philadelphia, PA/Roman Catholic) finished fourth in long jump with a leap of 20-7.25, becoming the individual with the tenth longest distance in KU history in the event.
The distance medley team of freshman
Josh Rinker (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg), sophomores
Brad Mayer (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) and
Mychal Robinson (Lancaster, PA/Cedar Crest), and junior
Zach Fleming (Emerald, PA/Northern Lehigh) came in first in the event with a time of 10:35.2.
With second place finishes, senior
Eli Weeks (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) completed the 800 meter run with a time of 1:57.9 and the 4X400 meter relay team consisting of freshmen
Ron Smith (Trevose, PA/Neshaminy) and
Quran Cason (Philadelphia, PA/Carver E&S), sophomore
Mychal Robinson (Lancaster, PA/Cedar Crest) and senior
Kori Meshaw (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) finished at 3:26.11 in the event.
Meshaw also took a third in the 60 meter hurdles with a mark of 8.66
Other top competitors on the day included junior Jacob Austin who completed the 3,000 meter run with a time of 9:14.96 for a fourth place finish and In pole vault, sophomore
Lanny Buck (Palmerton, PA/Palmerton) finished first with a throw of 15-03, followed by senior
Percell Berry (Collegeville, PA/Methacton) (14-11) in second. Sophomore
Sean Burns (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley) came in fourth with a throw of 14-05.25.
The Golden Bears compete again when they travel to the Ursinus Multi Wednesday, January 23, 2013.
