Golden Bears Second at Home Invitational

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown University's Jaclyn Clifton (Matawan, NJ/Matawan Regional) finished tied for third as the Golden Bears claimed second at the Kutztown Fall Invitational at Berkleigh Golf Club.

Clifton shot a 79, tied for the best score of the second round, to finish tied at 161 with Merrimack's Ali Reed.
 
Lauren Smith (Akron, Pa./Ephrata) shaved one stroke off of her first round score, finishing with an 81 for a 36-hole 163.  The score was good for fifth place.  Madison Houseal (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York) also finished in the top 10, tying Jaclyn Drew of Merrimack for 10th with a 168 (85-83).
 
Mindy Glatfelter (York, PA/Eastern York) was 13th with a 175 (88-87), while Devan Everett (Mill Hall, PA/Central Mountain) gave KU five players in the top 20 with a 184 (89-95).
 
Kutztown's second round 330 put the Golden Bears at 667 for the tournament, behind only Merrimack.  The Warriors shot a 322 on Sunday for a two-day total of 640 to win the team title.
 
Jessica Ngui of MU was the individual champ with a 158 after shooting 79 in both rounds to beat teammate Louise McGillivray by two strokes.
 
Kutztown was the top finisher among four PSAC schools in the tournament.  West Chester was third, but 40 strokes behind the Golden Bears.  East Stroudsburg finished seventh (771) and Millersville had a pair of individuals compete, but failed to compile a team score.
 
KU also fielded a B team in the tournament.  Kelly Quigley (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) finished 22nd at 185 (96-89).  In 24th place was Christa Golden (Staten Island, N.Y./New Dorp Island) with a 36-hole tally of 189 (97-92).  Lauren Sopko (Powell, OH/Phillipsburg) tied for 31st with a 200 (101-99) and Stephanie Oltman took 40th with a 213 (103-110).
 
Kutztown is idle until traveling to Hershey, Pennsylvania for the PSAC Championships on October 19-20.
