Reynolds and Gregory named All-Americans

KUTZTOWN, PA (December 7, 2010) – For their outstanding play this season, Erin Reynolds (York, PA/Central York) and Jenna Gregory of the Kutztown University field hockey team have been named to the womensfieldhockey.com Division II All-American team. (CLICK HERE FOR COMPLETE TEAM)

A first-team selection, Reynolds played far above expectations in just her freshman year. She was also selected to the All-Rookie team.

In the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), Reynolds was also a first-team selection and was awarded the Eastern Division Freshman of the Year. She was tied for sixth in the PSAC in assists (7) and was sixth in assists per game (0.37) as she finished second on the Golden Bears in both categories. Her 17 points were tied for third on the team. Reynolds finished with five goals this season.

“It means the world to me to receive this honor,” said Reynolds. “I've been working towards this since my freshman year in high school and it's great to see all my hard work pay off.”

Gregory was selected as a second-team All-American as she was a major threat for the Golden Bears on offense. Gregory led KU in scoring this season as she had 11 goals and was 10th in the PSAC in goals scored per game (0.58). Gregory was also fifth in the PSAC in assists (eight). Along with having two game-winning goals, one of Gregory's top games this season was against Seton Hill when she had two goals and two assists in a 7-3 victory.

Receiving national recognition for both of these underclassmen can only improve their confidence heading into next season when they return all but one starter. The Golden Bears finished with 12 wins in 2010 and were ranked fourth in the PSAC in scoring offense (3.03).

“Our team worked hard all year and I couldn't be prouder of our team,” said Gregory. “Erin impressed everyone this year. She came to play every day and motivated the entire team to do their best. I'm excited for next year as we all will be looking to compete for the conference championship.”
